Rose's nephew, Philip Panet-Raymond, wrote this about his Aunt Rose. Aunts are an important part of families because of the love that they provide. Our dear Aunt Rose will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Philip and I with our children Patrick, Katherine & William have wonderful memories of visiting her in Suffern for American Thanksgiving and her frequent visits here. She was a wonderful person who showered her family with affection at every opportunity.

Rose Otto (nee Apostolatos) Suffern, NY (formerly from Montreal)
April 6, 1930 – September 29, 2020
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt Rose. A graduate of Westmount High School (1947) and McGill University, where beneath her picture in the 1951 yearbook, read the caption, “Let well-planned foundations be laid.”

She was the daughter of the late Evangelia (Scafidas) and Agisilaos (Murphy) Apostolatos of Montreal and formerly Kefalonia, Greece.

Not long after graduating from McGill, Rose left Montreal for upstate New York (Sloatsburg and later Suffern), where she became active in her community. She taught school, appreciated the arts, travelled and entertained extensively and later became a successful real estate agent. She made many friends along the way.

Through it all, Rose remained deeply devoted to her family, both near and far. She insured that her sons grew up knowing their cousins and understood the importance of creating memories through countless reciprocal family visits, including: skiing in the Laurentians at Christmas; fishing in the Upper Lake, swimming in the Lower Lake in Sloatsburg and of course camping on Long Island. Our homes were always open (and more often than not, full).

Her happy outlook, easy-going nature, warmth and genuine interest in others and unwavering love of her family is what people will remember most about Aunt Rose.
She adored and was proud of her two granddaughters Noelle and Gabrielle Harvey.

She was pre-deceased by her son, Christopher Harvey. She is survived by her two sons, Steve (Allison) Harvey and Eric Otto as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, cousins as well her sisters Kay Swail and (best friend) Anne Panet-Raymond of Rosemere, Quebec.

How lucky we were to have had her in our lives. She will be deeply missed and remembered with fondness.

Ο θεός να την συγχωρέσει και να αναπαύσει την ψυχή της. Αιώνια της η μνήμη.

My sincere condolences to the family of my dear friend and business colleague Rose Otto. I met Rose about 33 years ago at the beginning of my Real Estate career and she was always a guiding force with her knowledge and professionalism. I will always remember her as the woman she was with such love for her fellow associate as well as her family. Rest In Peace.

My family and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of our forever beloved Aunt Rose. Please know that our support and sympathy are there for Steve, Allison, Eric, Noelle and Gabrielle.
I have such fond memories as a child travelling down to Sloatsburg for our summer holidays. We swam in the lower lake and went exploring through the woods in the upper lake. Then years later, I returned as a teenager to spend a couple of summers as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the lower lake. These memories I will always treasure and hold close to my heart.
Rose was a wonderful woman with so many loving characteristics. Her warmth and charm made her an endearing friend to many. She will be sorely missed.
May your fond memories of her strenghten you during this time.
Much love
Diane, John, Brant, Liz, Shelby, Bronte, Greg, Mark and her sister Kay.
