She was my grandma, my everything. I think of the story of how I started calling her grandma and I always smile. She was always so warm to my mother and I, my mother always referred to her as mom, so in my eyes she was always grandma. Grandma never made me feel like I was missing anything in my life, she always would sing to me at night when she would get home from work and tell me stories. We made up a song together called “I love you” and she would always sing it to me. She was more than a grandmother, she was God’s gift to me. Grandma I love you so much and I will never stop loving you. I cannot wait to see you again and give you the biggest hug and kiss. I will always keep your memory alive and you will always be in my heart. Thank you for making me the happiest little girl and my mother the happiest woman. Your presence always made us feel like we never lacked. You mean so much to me grandma. Until we meet again. Love your B.B always....

My memories of Marie are profound. Her love of her family Begena and Ginette. Everything was about her baby girl, Begena, She said, "I take her everywhere I go, we are friends". Marie came to us at Xtravagant Taste to book Ginette's wedding and we started talking about food, family, travel, and her crossing the border to see her sick sister in Canada.

She had the utmost integrity, she was concerned people were taking advantage of us needing a good Haitian cook and we were equally concerned about people abusing her talent and kindness. She won us over and she was our cook. She came prepared with quality controls in place, her lists, and her organized receipts. She would buy loads of conch and rice from Canada. Then if she thought we overpaid she'd say, "No I still have rice you don't pay for rice twice. We are taking care of each other. God sent you to me." We loved her so much. She was always helping others and selfless. Always smiling and always with one of her best friends Begena or Ginette.

Surprisingly I find out she and my mom are already friends from church. We're truly a family. I moved away and my mom was always giving Marie updates and telling me how Marie & Ginette are praying and asking about me & RiChard. Yes, RiChard was her boyfriend and I happily shared him because he was tickled with "his" Marie. They had their own inside jokes in the kitchen I remember her watching the people from the back as they ate and complimented her cooking. She was so proud yet always humble. She was the best Haitian Cook.

As we lay you to rest I'm pleased to have experienced your love, your prayers, your family, and your food. I know you are at peace and in eternal Paradise. God recognized this woman of Noble Character; the gates of heaven opened, immediately! You will serve as a forever example of a strong, God-fearing woman. Ginette & Begena have angels now and God will see you through this period. You will always be loved and you have a community lifting you in prayer.

My heartfelt condolences,
Elmire aka Dodie

Today I want to wish you my sympathies and sincere condolences to the Alectine family. I am a friend of Jacqueline in Canada. I knew Marie Jane when she came to visit Jacquotte. I remember her big smile and kindness. May God grant you STRENGTH, COURAGE and SERENITY during this hard moment.

I really sympathize with you all this morning. Marie Jane loved "Manman Marie" a lot and I know, that she will continue praying for those she loved the most. Thank you for allowing me to share this precious moments with your family. With all my love!

God bless you all.

From: Pascale and family.

Ginette and Begena, You have my deepest sympathy and heart felt condolences on hearing of the loss of our beloved Marie Alectine. My deepest condolences on the loss of Jean and your sister and my thoughts are with you. I came to know Marie well and I know she was truly a child of God with a heart of gold, she touched the lives of so many people with her spirit and willingness to give help in which ever way she could. When I met Marie at Xtravagant Taste it was like she was sent directly from heaven and she blessed many families with her joy of cooking and preparing meals for any special occasion. I will always treasure Marie’s smile and the things she taught me about Haitian foods and cooking. I could always depend on Marie and Begena to give their heart and soul to ensure that every event was exceptional. I know many people loved her very much and she will be greatly missed. I am praying for your family and that God will give you His strength and comfort to help you through the days ahead. If there is anything that I can do for you please don’t hesitate to reach out. Im just a phone call away 845 709 1978. God bless you, stay safe and be well.. Best Regards, Richard Dumas
