Dorothy “Sissy” O. Wright, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home overlooking her backyard surrounded by family on June 4, 2020 after a long battle with COPD. She was born on April 21, 1944 in Hunts Point, NY to Paul and Dorothy Lohberger. She will be joining the love of her life, Fred B. Wright, who predeceased her on Dec 24, 2019. They were married on September 27, 1963 in Elktown, MD and spent 56 happy and fulfilling years together.
She was a proud and loving mother to two high spirited boys, Fred E. Wright and Thomas K. Wright. Everything she did was for her children or her beloved birds. She taught her children patience and love amongst many other things. Their upbringing was reflected by the care they showed her during her last years.
She leaves behind her three favorite granddaughters, Allison G. Fisher, Amy R. Wright and Elizabeth A. Wright. She wasn’t the average grandma, she was Nana. She taught them how to gamble, double dutch, do all things crafty, stand their ground, and appreciate nature.
She is survived by her sisters, Donna Rose and husband Bob Rose, Dawn Reiser and husband Paul Reiser, Nancy Patton and husband Darryl Patton and Susan Lewis.
A funeral service will be held on June 9, 2020 at Brick Church Cemetery in Spring Valley at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask you to donate to Wild Bird Fund in Sissy’s name.
