Baldassare “Ben” Licata of Warwick, New York, passed away July 3, 2020 at the age of 87. Ben was born August 31, 1932 in New York City to Gaetano and Brigida Bentivegna Licata. Ben was a former restauranteur and retired as seafood manager at Waldbaum’s Supermarkets, Bayside, NY. Ben is survived by his wife Suzanne Licata, his children, Guy (Rosanne), Mitchell (Caren), Ronald (Angela), Craig (Maureen), Chris (Natalie), Scott (Cathy), and Vicki (Justin), as well as his beloved grandchildren, Gaetano, ToniAnn, Michael, Anthony, Ryder John, Hayley, Reagan, Ian, Ashley, Samantha, Allie, Megan, and Patrick, and three great-grandchildren, Kayson, Diana-Gray, and Elliot. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews. Ben was pre-deceased by his first wife, Nina Ferraro Licata, in 1996, and his brother, Joseph Licata. Ben’s Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, NY. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Relatives and friends are invited on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Scarr Funeral Home, Inc., 160 Orange Avenue Suffern, NY. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations in Ben’s name. Please make checks out to the Trustees of Columbia University, the subject memo should say (MDS) Myelodysplastic Syndrome Research. When I think of Ben. I think of Christmas. I hear Frank Sinatra. And of course I smell fish. Lots and lots of fish. I see Ben relaxing which being the hardest working person I knew he did not do much of. I would say he let his hair down but Ben hardes the best haircut always!

Thinking of all of you. Ben was one of the great ones. Always so kind, wonderful to all of the kids at the bungalow colony that brought us all together for life. May his memory be a blessing. A truly great guy.
